Fish culture systems:
Egerton University, together with other partners from universities and research institutions in Kenya, are implementing KCSAP Climate-Smart Fish Culture Systems (CSFCS) for Increased Aquaculture Productivity and Livelihood Security through Fingerponds project. This is one of the culture systems under adaptive collaborative research project on aquaculture value chain focusing on triple wins: productivity, resilience and greenhouse gas emission reduction. Fingerpond culture systems are a sustainable form of integrated wetland management for community livelihoods and food security
which enhance, extend and diversify food production from wetlands, particularly in the dry season through the use of water from natural floods and rainfall-runoff.
